Famous Fashion Brands. Part 2
HermèsTradition: Thierry Hermès founded in 1837 the traditional house in Paris. When transportat was revolutionized, and the horses were replaced with cars, the company acquired their name thanks to their traveling bags. In 1923, Hermes created “Bolide”, the first design of luggage bags. In 1988 the brand entered the prêt-à-porter fashion industry, offering luxury, classic accessories and clothes.
Style: The symbol of the brand is a 4 wheeled cart, being carried by two horses. Their bags become a cult together with the one created for Grace Kelly, which took the name from the actress, being known worldwide as the “Kelly-bag".

Tradition: Cristobol Balenciaga, named “The architect of haute couture” opened his first workshop in 1915 in San Sebastian. In 1968 he is forced to close his business due to the protests addressed TO mass production. After 4 years he dies in his summer residence in Spain. From 1997, Nicolas Ghesquiere brings a fresh vision.
Style: “A designer must be an architect of tailoring, a sculptor of forms, a painter of color and a philosopher of style”, thinks Cristobol Balenciaga.

Tradition: In 1978, Miuccia Prada, who was originally a politician, took the lead over her dad’s leather shop. Then she met her future husband, who became the manager of the shop. Prada offers nowdays ingenious clothes and shoes for women, men. The company’s brand is represented by unusual accents and brave cuts. Parallel she released a second line, with youthful and colorful clothes, called Miu Miu.
Style: Prada creations always compose one look that is situated between minimalism, couture, feminine and repulsive.
